Jobs in the hospitality industry are growing at the fastest rate of any industry except for health care. Employment in this sector has seen 17 percent growth between 2004 and 2014, even while other industries grew at a rate of only 14 percent. The hospitality industry is similarly strong in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, reporting 4,421 food and beverage outlets and 22,136 hotels, motels, and other short-term lodging facilities in 2014. The Texas Workforce Commission projections for Dallas County occupation growth 2012-2022 indicate lodging managers are expected to increase by 14.8 percent and meeting, convention and event planners by 37.4 percent.
